We stayed at this hotel for one night as a stopover after taking the train through the Eurotunnel. For this purpose, the location was perfect – right next to the motorway, making it very convenient for travelers in transit. Rooms & Facilities The room was clean and tidy, and the beds were comfortable, which made for a restful night. However, the hallways looked a bit run-down, with worn carpets and a generally dated feel. One major downside: no elevator! Carrying luggage up the stairs was definitely inconvenient, especially if you’re not on the ground floor. Spa & Gym A pleasant surprise was the spa, swimming pool, and gym area – all very well maintained and inviting, a great way to relax after a long journey. Restaurant Unfortunately, the restaurant was a letdown. The floor under the table was sticky, and it felt like our shoes were glued to it – not a great first impression. The food lacked care and freshness, clearly convenience-style, with little attention to quality or presentation. Service The absolute highlight of our stay was Tom, the waiter. He was friendly, attentive, and professional – a real asset to the team. His cocktails were excellent, crafted with care and really lifted the whole dining experience. Overall A decent hotel for a quick stopover, with a great location and solid rooms. Spa: great. Restaurant: disappointing. Thanks to Tom, our stay still ended on a positive note. With some investment in maintenance and kitchen quality, this place could really shine.

My friend and I stayed for 3 nights - first of all we were told that we couldn’t have 2 rooms near each other - then found out that there were loads of stairs to climb!!! They had a swimming pool/gym but it looked very run down. The only bit that looked ok was the restaurant area - but the menu wasn’t brilliant …but could’nt fault the breakfast though…. But lots of coffee cups next to the coffee machine were chipped!! My room was so desperate for a refurb plus it didn’t look like it had a proper clean plus it smelt - when I checked out at reception- I handed the girl over the card with the name of the person who attempted to clean the room …I’m glad my friend and I were out all day but it’s now put me off staying in a Holiday Inn again. A few weeks ago, I stayed overnight in Brighton at a Travel Lodge and that was much better value and the room was lovely - I think the Holiday Inn at Maidstone needs drastically to get its act together plus also employ more staff …
